Course Overview

The Diploma in Science Technology (Chemistry) at Kyambogo University is a hands-on, industry-focused programme designed to equip students with practical skills and technical knowledge in chemical sciences. This programme provides a strong foundation in the properties, analysis, and applications of chemicals in industrial and laboratory settings, preparing graduates for immediate employment in Uganda’s growing chemical and manufacturing sectors. Aligned with Uganda’s Vision 2040 and the National Development Plan IV (NDP IV), this diploma addresses the critical need for skilled technicians in chemical industries, quality control, and research laboratories. The curriculum blends theoretical knowledge with intensive practical training, ensuring graduates are proficient in: Laboratory techniques (chemical analysis, instrumentation, and quality testing), Industrial processes (manufacturing, safety protocols, and chemical handling), Environmental and pharmaceutical applications (waste management, basic drug formulation, and agrochemical production)

Admission Requirements

Direct Entry

For admission under the direct entry scheme, a candidate should have a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with one principal passes obtained at the same sitting in Chemistry and subsidiary pass in either Physics, Mathematics, Biology or Technical Drawing.

Diploma Entry InTo Year Two

Require a person be holding at least a credit Certificate in Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) or certificate in medical laboratory technology from a recognized institution.

Diploma Entry InTo Year One

A mature entrant who has sat and passed prescribed entry examinations administered by Kyambogo University.
